The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been ranked among the top three federal government agencies in the implementation of public service reforms, according to the latest performance evaluation conducted by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR).
The assessment recognised the commission for its achievements in transparency, efficiency, innovation and service delivery, particularly within Nigeria’s rapidly expanding telecommunications sector.
According to the report, the NCC demonstrated strong performance in institutional reforms, regulatory effectiveness and the adoption of digital technologies aimed at improving public service delivery.
Reacting to the recognition, the Executive Vice Chairman of the commission, Dr. Aminu Maida, described the ranking as a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the agency’s workforce.
He noted that the commission remains committed to promoting digital transformation, strengthening stakeholder engagement and ensuring that Nigerians benefit from reliable and accessible telecommunications services.
Industry stakeholders have welcomed the development, noting that the NCC has played a critical role in expanding broadband penetration, improving regulatory oversight and creating an enabling environment for investment in the telecommunications sector.
Experts believe the ranking will further enhance public confidence in the commission while encouraging other government institutions to improve accountability, innovation and service delivery.
The recognition comes at a time when the Federal Government is intensifying efforts to modernise public institutions and accelerate the country’s digital economy agenda.
The NCC remains one of Nigeria’s most strategic regulatory agencies, overseeing a sector that contributes significantly to economic growth, job creation and technological development.
