Governor Chukwuma Soludo has declared a shift in the political strategy adopted by political leaders in the South East region following the coalition of parties including the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, All Progressives Congress, APC, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and the Accord party in support of the reelection of President Bola Tinubu.
Stressing that the era of engaging in opposition politics which became prominent in the South East during the 2015 elections must end to give way to active integration at the center, Governor Soludo acknowledged the substantial work required at the foundational level to change public opinion of the Federal Government and to attract votes.
Addressing political stakeholders and grassroot mobilizers drawn from the different political parties at the International Convention Center, Awka, the Governor argued that if only 5,000 votes garnered by President Tinubu in the 2023 election can yield significant projects to the state and the region, a complete mobilization of the electorate for the President would bring even greater transformation and rewards.
Speaking on the economic reforms of the Federal Government, the governor noted the ongoing efforts to stabilize foreign exchange availability for importers and address key fiscal constraints, acknowledging that while significant progress has been made, further work remains ahead.
Outlining the roadmap for the coalition, the Governor called for structural realignment and stated that existing campaign and mobilization structures will be streamlined before the end of the upcoming week.
While asking mobilizers to adopt door-to-door engagement strategies, drawing a parallel to successful historical campaigns similar to what was adopted in the 1983 elections, the governor urged campaign teams to remain steadfast against opposition attacks and online verbal abuse, advising them to stay anchored on the truth.
He reaffirmed his commitment to long-term governance, adding that every action being taken today is aimed at securing a prosperous future for upcoming generations.
Delivering a message of inter-party solidarity earlier, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Sly Ezeokenwa, framed the gathering as a landmark moment in the political landscape of the state, noting that all partners stand united under the shadow of President Tinubu’s reelection effort, describing the gathering as an unprecedented coalition.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo for providing leadership and facilitating the historical alignment and declared full backing for the Governor’s direction, confirming that the party structure stands ready to execute instructions and deliver results at the polls.
Speaking on the political realignment, the Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Emma Anosike, admitted to initial skepticism prior to arriving at the stakeholders meeting but expressed new found appreciation for the developmental strides visible across the state and affirmed that the primary purpose of the gathering was to align the state directly with the central government during this period of national transition.
