Veteran Hollywood actor Anthony Guidera has died at the age of 65, weeks after suffering a sudden and unexplained medical emergency at his Southern California home.
Guidera collapsed on May 11, 2026, after his heart unexpectedly stopped beating. Emergency responders rushed him to hospital, where medical teams worked to stabilise him. He spent three weeks on life support while doctors attempted to determine the cause of the collapse. No clear explanation was ever found.
His wife Valarie confirmed that with no hope of recovery, the family made the difficult decision to bring him home and let him to pass away naturally, surrounded by his loved ones. He died on June 6.
In a statement, Valarie described the loss as devastating. “We are devastated and trying to breathe through the impossible,” she wrote, calling him a beloved husband, father and guiding light.
Guidera worked in film and TV for more than three decades. His big break came in 1990 with The Godfather Part III, where he played a bodyguard named Anthony. The 90s kept him busy with major roles, including the sci-fi thriller Species in 1995. That performance won him an MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss with co-star Natasha Henstridge. He later showed up in blockbusters like The Rock, The Postman and Armageddon.
On television, he was known for appearances in Baywatch, Renegade, Angel and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, moving comfortably between action films, science fiction and drama throughout his career.
He is survived by his wife Valarie and their son Nick.
