Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has appeared before a panel of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) investigating the activities of the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
His lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed that Gbajabiamila honoured the invitation and testified before the panel in Abuja, responding to questions related to the ongoing probe.
The investigation follows the Federal Government’s discovery that the PFIPC was not legally established and had no official approval or recognition.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier directed the ICPC to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the organisation and submit a report within 30 days.
The probe centres on allegations including forgery of government documents, impersonation and the use of a false claim of presidential appointment to obtain official recognition and other benefits.
Meanwhile, Gbajabiamila has filed a N15 billion defamation suit against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew over allegations that he demanded a kickback from funds reportedly approved for a federal agency.
The Chief of Staff has denied the allegations, describing them as false and defamatory.
The matter remains under investigation by the ICPC, while a separate criminal case involving the alleged PFIPC Director-General is scheduled to resume in September.
