Content creator Habeeb Hamzat, known widely as Peller, has come forward with allegations that a football coach sexually abused him when he was between 14 and 15 years old, a experience he says derailed what he believes could have become a professional football career. He shared his account during an episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast published on YouTube Monday.
Peller expressed regret over the path his life might have taken, suggesting that under different circumstances he could have gone on to represent his country on football’s biggest stage. Instead, the alleged abuse he says he endured as a young player pushed him away from the sport entirely.
He described a training routine where players gathered at an uncompleted building before heading to the pitch, and where latecomers faced fines he often could not afford to pay. According to Peller, that financial vulnerability made him a repeated target of the coach, who used the excuse of lateness to isolate him from teammates.
He also recounted a separate, more serious incident that took place at the coach’s residence in Agric, Ikorodu, where he says he was lured under a false pretext before the coach attempted to abuse him further, allegedly offering increased playing time as an inducement. Peller said he recognized the danger of the situation and used a moment of distraction, stepping outside briefly to play with other children nearby, before finding an opportunity to escape when the coach momentarily unlocked the door. He said he never returned after that encounter.
Reflecting on how the experience shaped the rest of his life, Peller said it was ultimately what pushed him away from football and toward content creation, a shift that would eventually define his public career. He spoke about the humble beginnings of his online presence, recalling a period when his livestreams drew only a handful of viewers before a collaboration with fellow creator Jarvis helped propel him toward the visibility he has today.
