Police Arrest Two Suspects, Recover Stolen Tricycle in Akwa Ibom Intelligence Raid

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested two suspects and recovered a stolen TVS tricycle valued at about N1 million during intelligence-led operations.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Uyo. The first suspect, Dominic Edet, was arrested in connection with the theft of the tricycle with registration number AFG 094 WZ from Afaha Itam in Itu Local Government Area. Further investigation led to the arrest of Asuquo Etim, who allegedly purchased the vehicle. The tricycle was sold for N1.8 million.

In a separate raid at Ikot Ekwere Ubium Village, operatives arrested 21-year-old Idorenyin Akpan and recovered items including crystal methamphetamine, a toy revolver pistol, and ritualistic materials. Commissioner of Police Baba Azare commended the officers and reiterated the command’s resolve to combat crime. He urged residents to provide timely intelligence to security agencies.

These arrests demonstrate the effectiveness of proactive policing in curbing vehicle theft and related crimes that affect livelihoods in the state. The recovery of the tricycle provides relief to its owner and sends a strong deterrent message to criminals. Broader raids targeting drug abuse and illegal activities further highlight police commitment to holistic crime control. Public cooperation remains key to sustaining these gains and improving overall safety in Akwa Ibom communities.
