Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Technology-driven Security Strategy

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to deploying technology and intelligence-driven strategies to address security challenges across the country.

The President made the pledge at the grand finale of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2026 and the African Land Forces Forum held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Tinubu said the Federal Government is investing in modern military equipment and capacity building for personnel to improve operational effectiveness and combat readiness.

According to him, the administration is also prioritising research, innovation and the revitalisation of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) to strengthen local production of military hardware.

The President noted that emerging technologies would play a critical role in addressing terrorism, banditry and other security threats facing the country.

He commended members of the Armed Forces for their service and sacrifice, assuring families of fallen personnel that their contributions would not be forgotten.

Also speaking, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara praised the Armed Forces for their role in maintaining security and urged continued support for military personnel.

Chief of Army Staff Waidi Shaibu reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity and safeguarding citizens.

The event featured military displays, award presentations and discussions on regional security cooperation.
