Tinubu Vows Safe Return of Oriire Abduction Victims

President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that all schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State will be rescued unharmed, expressing confidence in ongoing security operations aimed at securing their freedom.

The President gave the assurance on Thursday while responding to growing concerns over the prolonged captivity of the victims. He stated that intelligence gathering and coordinated security operations were progressing positively and pledged that the government would continue to deploy all necessary resources to secure the safe release of those abducted.

Tinubu appealed to parents, guardians and residents of the affected communities to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies. He stressed that efforts by the military, police and intelligence services were ongoing and that authorities were committed to ensuring the safe return of every victim.

The abduction, which occurred about a month ago, sparked widespread outrage across the country and renewed concerns about insecurity, particularly attacks targeting schools and educational institutions. Civil society groups, community leaders and political figures have repeatedly called on the government to intensify rescue efforts and strengthen security in vulnerable areas.

The President also issued a warning to kidnappers and their sponsors, stating that those responsible would face the full consequences of the law. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to combating banditry, kidnapping and other forms of violent crime threatening national stability.

Security experts say school abductions continue to pose serious challenges to education, community development and public confidence in safety measures. They have urged authorities to invest more heavily in intelligence-driven operations, surveillance systems and community policing initiatives.

The assurance from the President comes amid increasing public demand for concrete action against criminal networks responsible for kidnappings across different parts of the country. Families of the victims have continued to express hope that the hostages will soon regain their freedom.

As rescue operations continue, attention remains focused on the government’s ability to secure the victims’ release and prevent future attacks on schools and communities.
